When you or someone you love is diagnosed with loss of hearing, it can be overwhelming. Luckily, there are different options that can help you handle  this condition. The usage of hearing aids is recommended by Audiologists to improve the quality of life of their patients. Once you are prescribed a specific hearing aid, there are steps to follow that will help you get used to your new little helper.

As previously mentioned, the first thing you need to do is visit your Miami Audiologist, like Dr. Duran ,who will insert the hearing aid into your ear and adjust it according to the extent of your hearing loss and hearing preferences. There, you will receive instructions on how to care for the hearing aid and an explanation of how hearing aids react in different situations.

During the first few days you will familiarize yourself with the hearing aid. It is recommended to use the hearing aid a few hours each day. Begin by watching TV or talking with someone. You will have to get used to your own voice and try to modulate the volume to speak more softly. Write down your experiences, as it will aid your doctor in your next visit to adjust the hearing aid to your specific needs.

After visiting your Audiologist, you will begin to use your hearing aid regularly and you will surely experience an increase in your quality of life. For any questions, visit your local Miami Hearing Center.
